I understand that a businesses needs policies and limitations, but they also need good customer service, and flexibility when their policies arbitrarily deny services and active promotions.
Was in Ithaca on business when my car started to smell like burning rubber. Ithaca Auto Service took me in as a walk-in, serviced my car in less than 10min, and had me back on the road before I could even get comfortable in their very nice waiting area. Will be my go-to in the area for car service from now on. Highly recommended.
The tire pressure warning light was on when I got in my car, they just told me it would turn off on it's own, tire pressure was fine. No it didn't resolve on it's own, and I had to get the light fixed on a different occasion.
When my wife and I first moved in to town, we used Ithaca Auto Service for our inspections and oil changes. a few months ago my wife's car needed a major repair and they were able to fit her in quickly, preformed quality work, and were quite flexible.
we have had other similar interactions in the last couple of months where the Ithaca Auto treats us like a stereotypical car shop where their word is final and I would have better luck arguing with a post.
Because of these recent series if events, my wife and I will no longer be bringing our business to Ithaca Auto Service.
Went for a simple oil change, they put a sticker that does not come off, still parts of it on my windshield a year later. They almost lost my car keys when I went to pick it up, took them a while to find it.
These past experiences are why I'm not giving them just 1 star.
In my last interaction with Ithaca Auto, I was inquiring about the "Free Birthday Oil Change" promotion. The receptionist said that the maintenance had to occur exactly on my birthday. When I asked, what if my birthday is on a Saturday when they are closed, she sharply said that they would not honor it and ended the call.
They are warm and patient at the beginning, making me happy to pay nearly 1000 dollars to have my brakes replaced. Half a month later, our car starts to make weired noise. So we went back, but they told us there is nothing wrong with the brake, and suggested us to check the axes and bearings. However, technicians from all other shops told me the noise is very likely to be related to brakes. So we come back again several months later, as the noise become sharper and sharper. They finally found some problems with the brake. But they again want to charge 200 dollars to have it checked in more detail (not guranteed to fix it). And they become rude and arrogant when we complained about it. A really terrible experience...
Having moved here from South Florida, it was hard to find a reliable mechanic in Ithaca. This place has been nothing but great to me. Fair prices, and a friendly staff make this my favorite mechanic in the area.
