I had left a wallet/organizer in a rental car that the folks who rented the car next found and kindly alerted me that they'd turn it into Avis, Ithaca when they returned the car. Avis didn't bother to contact me on it's return, but I finally got through to them at the Ithaca Airport location..

reserved on phone and picked up without any drama

Price is great. Vehicle is okay. Service was okay until the person at the counter got irresponsible and flippant.

It is great.Rented a 12 passenger van for a week for business. Nothing to complain but I wish the price can be lowered. I paid over $1000 for that. I am in Ithaca, NY. I will be more happy if the price would be around $700. Could it be based on mileage? Mostly we just drove in town.

Thanks for the reply - I'm tired of calling, just have the lady I've been speaking with at the counter drop my pre-paid UPS envelope (with my organizer in it) into the UPS drop box. It's sitting on the desk there.

They asked me to send a UPS pre-paid envelope to have it shipped back to me.

Guess I have to fly in from Chicago to Ithaca to pick it up???

When I called they made up some nonsense about the UPS facility being closed. There is a UPS drop-off box less than a .5 mile from them.

Woman at the counter has a "I could care less" attitude about her job it seems. She wouldn't make eye contact with me. When she gave me the keys for my car, I kindly asked if there were any other options for cars available as I wasn't very interested in the car they had selected for me. This is after the avis app sent me a notification stating that I could choose my car upon arrival...Without even bothering to check or let me finish my sentence she just blurted out no and walked back into her office. Reluctantly I took the car given. When entering the car, it was filthy and looked like it had never been washed and cleaned (both exterior and interior) and when I stated that the rental I had was dirty she refused to acknowledge my claim and kept repeating that it gets "inspected" before going to the customer. Clearly whoever is inspecting the cars to ensure they are clean isn't paying very close attention. There was food and various other mystery stains throughout my rental. Swapped cars and the new car was also filthy. (Mind you she gave me a midsize car yet I am still paying the full size rate). You either need to work on training employees better, or begin to hire people who actually understand what it's like to work in customer service. I'll be keeping my business with Enterprise/National as they truly understand how to treat a customer.
