Won't be bothering her again.
I will be visiting the Ithaca area with a dog that had been diagnosed with cancer. Before traveling, my vet wanted me to touch base with a vet in the area as a precaution. I left a message for Dr. Berian and she called me back within a few hours. She was incredible. So supportive and informative. She really seemed to empathize with me. We talked for longer than a normal vet appointment! I hope I don't need to call her when I visit, but it's nice to know she's there. She really seems to care.
Claire Berian is the most caring vet ever. She came to my house because my 19 1/2 yr old Siamese was terminal and needed to be euthanized. He was in capable and experienced hands through T the process and passed away gently and serenely in my arms. We both cried. I'm so happy I chose her and would give her more than five stars if I could.
I wish I'd gotten a chance to meet Dr Berian under happier circumstances, but the only time I or my family have used her services as opposed to a clinic based vet is unfortunately when we had a cat and had made an end of life decision for them. With both my mother's cat (roughly two years ago) and my own last month Dr Berian was extremely sympathetic and helped make the process as stress free and calm for the cat as we could possibly ask.
You never want to say you're HAPPY about a pet dying, but being able to have it done at home, and done well and with obvious care, is the absolute best you can ask for so I wouldn't hesitate to recommend her for anyone who needed any sort of in-home care.
Called to see what her fees were to have my dogs vaccinated for rabies. One of my dogs is a bit "high strung", so I don't want to go to a free clinic, where there are lots of people and other dogs. I was hoping to save him (and me) from that kind of stress. I live a few blocks away from this vet, but it was still $50 for the call and $20 per rabies shot. But before I could get a word in edgewise, she rattled off a laundry list of tests and vaccines that should be given, and was told that she wasn't a "shot jockey" and that "I should go to a local free clinic if that was all I wanted". So I asked if she was refusing to do it and was told, "yes".
I have used this Veterinarian for many years for both my dogs and my cats. Very caring, reasonably priced, and always took very good care of my pets. Excellent.
